Wymondham, Norfolk Accommodating 10 guests.

The Moat House sits on a garden island, fully surrounded by its own moat, in wonderful seclusion. Approached down a long tree lined driveway, the very best of Norfolk is literally just outside the door.
This Elizabethan property offers spacious and luxurious accommodation for ten guests with all five bedrooms giving stunning countryside views. In addition, there are sofa beds in the drawing room and games room should you need them. The reception rooms are perfect for all purposes and those on the upper floors also look out over the surrounding area. The sympathetic renovations, gorgeous furnishings and unobtrusive modern touches combine to create a perfect atmosphere in which to unwind and relax. Combine these details with the walking, riding, golf and other activities that are available in the local area, as well as the proximity of Norwich, Newmarket and Norfolk Broads, and you have the ideal location for any gathering.
Location
The Moat House is situated near Wymondham, a lively market town famous for its glorious Benedictine Abbey, distinctive market cross, the Bridewell Museum and many other attractions. Wymondham is one of the largest towns in South Norfolk. It has a busy centre, plenty of shops and a leisure centre with a swimming pool. The beautiful and unspoilt Tiffey Valley surrounding Wymondham provides fabulous walks as well and Wymondham itself is home to the mid Norfolk Railway and the historic Railway Station.
Newmarket is the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing with a racing history that dates back as far as 1174. As the largest horseracing training centre in the UK, Newmarket is home to well over 2,000 racehorses. Around 70 trainers and 60 stud farms operate in and around Newmarket and the racecourse has a full racing calendar.
The Norfolk Broads is Britain’s largest wetland, a unique area of 200km of lock free navigable river, shallow lakes, fens, woodlands and grazing marshes. Wroxham, the ‘capital of the Broads’ is eighteen miles from The Moat House and there are several pleasure craft hire yards there. But be warned – Wroxham bridge is considered to be particularly difficult to navigate and there is a pilot station on the Hoveton side of the river ready to assist.
The History
The Moat House dates from the 16th Century and was built by the Sedley Family. The original owner, John Sedley, an architect to Henry VII, would find little changed since the day he designed it… the wonderful period features of the property have been beautifully preserved.
In more recent years the house has been owned by other wealthy individuals, including Field Marshal Sir Edmund Ironside, who was Commander in Chief of Home Forces during the Second World War and, in the Seventies, Janet Shand Kydd, first wife of Peter Shand Kydd, the stepfather of Diana, Princess of Wales. If you go into Attleborough, two miles away, you'll find lots of locals who remember Diana visiting here as a little girl to ride her pony her family had a home nearby at Sandringham. The staircase leading to the upper floors is found, strangely, behind a large curtain in the dining hall. Made of solid oak, it has stood for nearly 500 years yet doesn't make the slightest creak.
Surrounded by unspoilt beautiful countryside and included in the books "Beautiful Homes of Britain", Pevsners "Buildings of England" and Burke's "Guide to Country Houses".
The Accommodation
